There are lot of enjoyable "intelectual" states of mind, one is when you read about something completely new, and you have a feeling of how wonderful the world is. There's also another state, not contrarian, but different, aporia, is being puzzeled by the convolution of the world and the ideas you thought were simple and true are complex and difficult to grasp. This is one of the sentiments that Derrida wanted us to experiment and embrace. This video below is a great introduction to his life and work.
